Universities aim to teach cognitively demanding problem-solving skills, such as computational thinking. To support students in learning such skills, the project intends to develop novel artificial intelligence methods for intelligent tutoring systems. In particular, the methods will provide automatic and adaptive support for students during exercise in order to facilitate a collaborative problem-solving process that challenges students without overburdening them. The novel AI methods will be integrated into real-world intelligent tutoring systems at Bielefeld University and support the iterative improvement of these systems across the entire lifecycle.
